Dearest Bubbles,

It's not you, it's me. I gave it a good shot for the kids. But a relationship can't continue on obligation alone. You bounce happily in to our lives and then just as quick you burst out again. The kids need a better experience. And you leave me feeling cheap and slimey...I deserve more. You may have guessed that I have found someone new. Yes, I know it seems like I've moved on quickly. My amour has a lot of your positive qualities but is able to give me more. Like you, his entrance is exciting. But he doesn't just abandon you. He leaves you with a subtle reminder you that he has been there for you. I am certain that we will see you around at other children's parties and holidays. Until we meet again... S-

Party in my Head - Horribly Expensive Confetti

Not sure if any of you saw this is the most recent Domino Magazine, but it led me to extreme party planning mode.  They called their snippet "A glammed-up new year's eve" so immediately my thoughts turned to champagne and caviar, gourmet choco truffles and elegant and decadent finger foods.  The magazine calls out three products to produce this glammed-up affair and they are so over the top, I just had to share.  First is what they dub "fancy confetti" which is a mix of paper, metallic leather, Mylar and linen for just $30/ 8 ounces.  No problem.  Okay, but now let's discuss the handmade pinata for $135.  Gorgeous?  Yes.  And it is empty, so now you have to fill that with Godiva or Vosages chocolates.  This party is getting kinda pricey...But what's that you say?  What should we use for a blindfold to destroy the fancy pinata?  Oh, you should certainly pick up one of these silk charmeuse and leather numbers for just $195.  I bet you have never heard of a blindfold being a family heirloom passed down through generation after generation but for that price, you should try to get as much use out of it as possible.  Don't get me wrong.  All three of these items are stunning and if I had the money, I would probably even consider purchasing them.  I'm fanciful like that.  But now, I am going to go cut coupons to use at the grocery store.  That is how I am rolling right now... The Party in my Head - Junk in the Trunk

Wow.  This is awesome.  I saw this today on Urban Daddy and immediately had a fantasy party planning session in my head.  I picture the beach parking lot on a Saturday afternoon.  I see several Raj tents and lots of beautiful people milling about.  And I see this mobile party unit set up kicking out the jams and drinks.  This is such a great idea.  Is it practical, not really.  Is it cheap, no way.  But the idea...fantastic.  This 80 pound aluminum box secures to your hitch (pretty sure there isn't a hitch on a some cars, but I could be wrong).  The Party-a-CarGo has a built in power source so you can crank up the tunes for 12 hours either from your ipod or a cd player, and a full kegerator.  The company is based in So Cal so everyone else will just have to dream about the possibilities.  And for $2,800 and up, the rest of us will probably admire it from a far too.

The Party in My Head - Custom Ice Cream!

From time to time I will be posting items for a category I like to call the "Party in my Head." Cupcakes and Cutlery aims to keep the products, services and ideas discussed in this blog in a certain price range making it useful to the largest group of readers. However, for the Party in my Head, I am super rich. I'm talking Oprah Winfrey rich. So in my head, I throw the BEST parties. I wish you could all be there! They are totally unique and thoughtful and fun and everyone gets to leave with their own pony. Okay, so maybe the ponies don't figure in to every party, only once in a while. For the next Party in my Head I'm going to serve ice cream from Ecreamery.com. I will use their ice cream for the biggest ice cream sundae bar ever invented and then send everyone home with a pint of their own custom flavor. If you haven't been to their site, you should check it out. Not only do they sell prepackaged pints and gallons in unbelievably tempting flavors, but they also let you make your own combos. But here is why this is only for the Party in my Head. It is $50 for a half gallon, shipped in 4 pint containers plus another $30 for shipping!!!!! Yeah. First you decide if you would like Gelato, Classic or Premium cream as your base. Then you choose the base flavor, but I hope you aren't afraid of decisions because they give you 55 different flavors to choose from. They have everything from the standard classics to Cardamom, Almond or Stout flavors. Next, browse through their list of 70 mix-in options (each is $2.50 and you can add up to 2). You have heard us talk about looking for "unique" in just about every post we have done so far. But I am having a little trouble with some of the mix-ins. I enjoy the standard candy, chocolate chip, cookie type mix-in. You will not find me choosing the cheddar cheese or Parmesan cheese pieces (although when mixed in the right combination, I bet it is probably pretty good). Then you get to name your flavor and choose from the 3 packaging options they have. This is one of the reasons I enjoy the site so much. Their packaging is really great. So for my party, I would let the company choose a few of their most popular flavors to serve the guests and then have them set up a mobile ice cream making area so the guests could make their own take home gifts. And then I would have the valet bring my DeLorean around and I would drive off to Neverland Ranch which I have purchased and restored to its original glory but added a shopping mall and a Sprinkles cupcakes shop.

So if I am ever in Omaha, I will be sure to check out the Creamery in person. And you should too.
